The KID_ACTIONS project aims to address and prevent cyberbullying among children and adolescents. How will KID_ACTIONS reach this goal and support teachers, educators, and youth workers in tackling this topic? The core aspect of the project’s innovative methodology is the integration of the educational platform and advanced digital solutions.

One of the main objectives of KID_ACTIONS project is to develop, implement and integrate the Digital Educational Platform and Educational Toolkits aimed to be launched by winter 2022.

How will the KID_ACTIONS Digital Educational Platform be developed?

There are certain tools and methodologies KID_ACTIONS will base on to develop the concept of the educational platform. Among these tools are:

  • Social media monitoring and analysis for cyberbullying detection

KID_ACTIONS aims to collect a large pool of cyberbullying examples from social media (e.g. Twitter), to identify online interactions that can be categorised as cyberbullying, as well as define its frequency, and the typical targets. These interactions will be analysed using natural language processing techniques.

  • Extension and improvement of advanced digital solutions to raise youth awareness on cyberbullying phenomena

KID_ACTIONS will continue working on advancing the customised methodology and gameful education tools. The tools will include role-playing and simulation games, such as interactive lectures and laboratories, scenario-based role-playing and participatory analysis. These techniques will allow kids to ‘experience’ cyberbullying from different standpoints in a protected and supervised environment.

What are the educational toolkits and how they will be created?

The educational value of the Digital Educational Platform will be provided by the innovative Educational Toolkits tailored to children’s and adolescents’ needs. Their purpose is to lessen the number of intolerant or inappropriate messages, as well as encourage human rights-based education to strengthen democratic resilience. These Educational Toolkits will be structured in Kids Kits tailored to children aged 11-13, and in Teenagers Kits tailored to adolescents aged 14-19, and be accompanied with teachers’ and educators’ didactic guide.

To advance the technological components and methodology of the Digital Education Platform, as well as to elaborate the Educational Toolkits, the project will specifically focus on the importance of involving educational stuff, young people, civil servants and youth workers in co-creation process. In particular, the modules will encourage a participatory approach to actively engage children and adolescents as actors of their learning process.

How KID_ACTIONS plan to implement its methodologies?

  • ‘Train-the-Trainer’ activities

The methodologies and tools presented in the education toolkits will be implemented within ‘Train-the-Trainer’ activities aimed at supporting the educational staff in informing and motivating young people through the educational activities. These ideas will be put into practice by organising six two-day training courses both on ‘national’ and ‘regional’ levels, as well five (online) webinars.

  • Piloting and roll-out activities

The launch of the Digital Education Platform and the Educational Toolkits will be followed by the organisation of piloting and roll-out activities tailored to secondary school students, as well as to children and adolescents of youth centers. KID_ACTIONS aims to involve about 500 secondary school students and 20 schools and youth centres in testing sessions and further gather feedback from participants.

How will KidActions monitor and evaluate its training and educational path?

The activities of co-creation processes, training sessions, and piloting and roll out activities will be evaluated and summarised in one comprehensive report. This document will aim to provide knowledge, competencies and instruments in order to facilitate the implementation of the innovative approach to tackle cyberbullying among young people. In addition, this report will focus on quantitative and qualitative analysis of the KID_ACTIONS training and educational path by identifying a set of indicators to measure the efficiency of the Digital Education Platform and of the Educational Toolkits.
